Dame Mary Barbara Hamilton Cartland (1901-2000) was an English writer. During her long career, she wrote over 700 books, making her one of the most prolific authors of the 20th century. Known as the world's most famous romantic novelist, she also wrote autobiographies, biographies, health and cookery books, stage plays and recorded an album of love songs. She was often billed as the Queen of Romance.

The Romance of Food Boasts a collection of colour still life plates photographed at Cartland's home, using her own props for set dressing. Informative and unintentionally hilarious, this a collector's must if not just a great conversation starter.
